Me and my work
I currently work in Jakarta as a Legal Consultant for the office of Lilik Supriyano. We accept foreign as well as Indonesian clients. If you have a particular legal problem that you need assistance with, including fraud related to internet purchases, just email me for more information.
I also work as a researcher and consultant for Jotosan Jakarta, which is a company that provides resources for expatriates living in Indonesia.
I have a strong work ethic and love facing new challenges and adventures. I have always pushed myself to work to my full potential and have been known, by many people, to be a bit of a workaholic.
At the time that I was still working as a journalist, I was on-call 24 hours a day/7 days a week, literally. Unfortunately, journalists in this country that are employed by national media corporations are not paid well and are expected to "supplement" their income in any way they can……which means that if you’re one of the rare ethical journalists that still value truth and transparency, you are destined to remain employed but living far below the poverty line. Which is what my life as a journalist was like. Reporters in this country with a university education earn less than a common housemaid that has not even finished elementary school, believe it or not. Be that as it may, I love the life of a journalist. There’s nothing like it. I do hope one day to have the opportunity to work with foreign journalists.
I use the internet a great deal. It’s an excellent research tool and opens so many doors to people in this country that they never knew existed. Hopefully this will aid in our people’s transition to democracy - which I strongly believe in. I dream of an Indonesia that is fair in its treatment of its citizens and free of racism and nepotism. For this reason I like chatting, e-mailing and being a member of different mailing lists; it allows me to stay in contact with a wide variety of people, from many cultures, world-wide. Some mailing lists I have subscribed to are Journalism, Jurnalis Lepas, Mediacare, Wartawan Indonesia and Kelompok Study Kaisar. I continue to be an active member in most of these groups to the present time.
I also have discovered that I really like dogs. That may not sound very special to foreign people who are reading this page, I know. But there is a real aversion to dogs in Indonesia and animals in general are not treated well. At the moment we are the proud owners of 2 purebred boxers, 1 pug that we love like our own child and a very special "kampung" dog (mixed breed dog that you often find on the streets here) that invited herself into our home .
I hope that readers of this site find it educational and learn more about Indonesia as a result of the information found here. Be sure to drop me a line, take part in one of my polls or stick around to make your opinion heard in my new Ajax chat-rooms if you’ve got anything to say.
