Welcome to tommyjt.com
My name is TommyJT - Jakarta Legal Consultant for the LILIKSP Law Office in Semarang - originally from Central Java. I am also a contributor to Jotosan Jakarta, a site dedicated to resources and services for expatriates living and working in Indonesia. This site contains information in reference to Indonesian law and articles regarding noteworthy news and issues that affect Indonesia and the world. Many of the topics are controversial internationally, as well as within the Muslim community. As a Muslim who has seen myself what destruction common misunderstandings and fanatacism have caused, my aim is to provide well-researched information to the international community, in addition to misguided Muslim people themselves.
Indonesia is a relatively new democratic country. As such, we as a people are still struggling with the concept of democracy and the responsibilities it entails. In addition to struggling with the complexities of democracy, we now must deal with the difficulties associated with religious fanatacism.
Because I have worked as a journalist for print media publications in the past, I feel that the articles and issues for discussion that are available here are important for Indonesian citizens - as well as foreigners - to be aware of.
In addition to world and national news, you will also find information in regards to how to protect yourself from internet scammers. There have been a great deal of foreigners wishing to do business with Indonesian companies and citizens. Unfortunately - as in any country - not all of these businesses and individuals are ethical. Because I have been contacted by many people from Europe, Australia, Canada and America asking for assistance and advice on how to deal with this problem, I have included on this site a list of DOs and DON’Ts when contemplating making purchases over the internet from foreign - or any - companies. If you’ve been scammed by an Indonesian company or individual or plan to do business with an Indonesian citizen or company and don’t know where to go for help, contact me directly for a consultation.
Please read on and be patient with me as I put this site together. I have a great deal of information to share with the public, so it will take me a bit of time to complete the construction of this site and its related info pages. I will do my best over time to include as many articles as possible in English however, most - except those listed in the Indonesia in the International news - are only available in Indonesian at this time.
Until then, feel free to email me with any comments, questions or criticisms.
